Red Nose Day

Article date:  27/03/2015

Higgs & Sons carries out many events throughout the year to help raise money for various charities. The events are a great opportunity for the trainees to get involved with firm-wide activities, and to help those in their first year get to know everybody within the different departments.

This year's charity of the year is the Alzheimer's Society and we will be carrying out lots of different activities to help raise money on their behalf.

The first activity of the year took place in March and was based around Red Nose Day. After seeing all the publicity in the run up to Comic Relief, the trainees wanted to try and raise money for this great cause. It was decided that a dress down Friday would be something everybody could participate in and so requested a £1 donation from anyone coming in their 'own clothes'.

On the day, it was fantastic to see everybody showing their support for our charity day.   The firm also purchased Red Noses for everyone, which were proudly on show throughout the day. The trainees made an Easter Hamper full of chocolate goodies and sold raffle tickets to help raise additional money for the charity. This was a fantastic way for the first years to get to know other departments in the firm as they rallied around to sell the tickets.

Overall our Comic Relief activities raised a fantastic £721.05 and provided a brilliant opportunity for the trainees to get together and work as a team. The firm is now looking forward to carrying out many more fundraising activities throughout the year.
