Family Fun Day raises £4000 for The Prince's Trust
Article date: 24/09/2014
A team of Aston Villa Old Stars took part in a charity football match on Sunday, and helped to raise £4,000 for The Prince's Trust.
Organised by Higgs & Sons, the family fun day at Stourbridge Football Club saw more than 300 people enjoy children's activities, free football coaching, a charity raffle and a variety of food and drink.
The charity cash was raised through stalls, a raffle and programme sales.
The Higgs and friends team were eventually beaten 5-8 by the All Stars, but 16 year old Matt Dines was named Man of the Match for his first half hat-trick, and received his award from former Republic of Ireland international Mark Kinsella.
Tim Jones, Partner at Higgs, said: "It was a great match enjoyed by all, played in the right spirit and despite losing the game, raising £4,000 for the Prince's Trust was a magnificent result. To date, our hard working and dedicated trainees have raised in excess of £10,000 in their Million Makers Project and this event is just one example of the effort they have put in to raise funds for this fantastic cause."
