Higgs' partner named IoD CSR West Midlands Director of the Year
Article date: 05/06/2014
Tim Jones, head of employment law at Higgs & Sons, has been named CSR Director of the Year by the West Midlands branch of the Institute of Directors (IoD) at its annual awards today.
Tim heads up Higgs' CSR programme, which he helped to establish in 2012. Since that time, he has led 12 community projects and encouraged 47% of the team to engage in initiatives.
Speaking at the awards, Tim said: "The success of our CSR programme has been the support from our people who have demonstrated a clear desire to help the community in which they live and work - community matters.
"It has been a privilege and pleasure to have been part of the journey, and long may it continue. For us, the business benefits as well as the community benefits are overwhelming and compelling. We are very much a part of the Black Country and our programme shows our commitment to this region."
To date, the team at Higgs has invested over 1500 hours into community projects. Initiatives have included the design and build of a seaside garden at Hob Green School, mentoring undergraduates at Wolverhampton University, collections for Black Country food bank and fundraising £13,000 for the Princes Trust.
This year, the team has just completed a charity bike race and has a five-a-side football tournament coming up.
Higgs & Sons is headquartered at the Waterfront Business Park in Brierley Hill. The firm employs more than 200 people, which includes over 100 specialist lawyers.
