Higgs and ERIKS join forces for 'Give & Gain'

Article date:  19/05/2014

Leading Midlands law firm Higgs & Sons has teamed up with industrial services specialist ERIKS to help youngsters in the Black Country get fit and learn about healthy attitudes to eating and living.

The two companies took part in the Business in the Community's (BITC) Give & Gain day on 16 May 2014.

Douglas Houghton, a solicitor at Higgs, headed up the law firm's efforts, which involved a day of fun and sport at Tipton Sports Academy. Youngsters from schools across the Black Country took part in activities run by businesses in the region.

Speaking about the event, Douglas said: "Higgs took part in Give & Gain last year and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

"This year, Higgs and ERIKS put on two events - dodgeball and an assault course, entertaining approximately 150 children throughout the day. Ensuring that children lead an active lifestyle, eat healthily and generally take care of themselves is fundamental to their future and Higgs is proud to support this initiative."

Denny Wood, HR director at ERIKS said: "By working alongside Higgs, we can not only grow our professional relationship but conjointly give back to the communities in which our businesses are based.

"Encouraging youngsters in the local community to keep fit and active is a positive signal and is also very much in line with ERIKS' internal wellbeing initiatives for employees."

Higgs & Sons is headquartered at the Waterfront Business Park in Brierley Hill. The firm employs more than 200 people, which includes over 100 specialist lawyers.
